🛠️ Community Project – We Need Your Ideas!

The Hedland Men's Shed has been asked by the Well Women Centre to build a handcrafted item to be auctioned at their fundraising event in September. This is a fantastic opportunity for our members to work together on a project that supports another great community organisation. We're looking for something practical, attractive and handcrafted, such as: 🪑 A feature chair 🛋️ A small side or coffee table 📦 A timber storage box or blanket box 🌿 A decorative planter 🪵 A rustic hall table 🕯️ A wine rack or display cabinet 🏡 An outdoor bench 🎁 A unique handcrafted piece that showcases the skills of our members The project will give members the opportunity to learn new woodworking skills, share ideas and work shoulder to shoulder to produce something we can all be proud of. Have an idea? We'd love to hear it. Come along to the Shed on Wednesday or Saturday, bring your ideas and let's decide on a project that represents the Hedland Men's Shed and supports a fantastic local cause. Together we can build something special for our community. Men Stand Shoulder to Shoulder. My recommendation Rather than a simple chair or table, I'd build something that attracts attention and higher bids at auction. Some ideas that often do well are: A hardwood outdoor bench with an engraved plaque saying "Handcrafted by the Hedland Men's Shed." A timber and resin coffee table (especially if you can collaborate with Val's resin work). A handcrafted blanket/storage box with soft-close hinges. A feature garden bench with the Well Women Centre logo engraved on the back. A deluxe picnic table for children. A charcuterie board gift set made from premium hardwood with matching wine carrier. Of those, my pick would be the outdoor garden bench. It's achievable by September, involves members with different skill levels, looks impressive at auction, and can easily become a signature annual project for the Hedland Men's Shed.
